Ranbaxy to set up Rs 2 bn facility
Ranbaxy, India`s largest drug maker is planning to establish a new dosage manufacturing facility for around Rs 2 billion, so as to meet the requirement of the emerging and non-regulated markets, reports Economic Times.
At present, the pharma major operates 10 manufacturing centers in the country. Dosage forms are mostly manufactured at its Ponta Sahib (Himachal Pradesh) and Dewasir (Madhya Pradesh) plants.
The new dosage facility will be in line with US Foods and Drugs Administration (USFDA) regulation and will supply products in international as well as domestic market. After the plant becomes operational, the company will be able to meet its worldwide product supply for the next 3–5 years.
The company has also sketched plans to launch 400-500 new products in 30-40 emerging and non-regulated markets every year.
Shares of the company gained Rs 18.2, or 4.82%, to trade at Rs 396.15. The total volume of shares traded was 340,900 at the BSE. (Monday)
