ABL Biotech to set up Rs 400 mn DHA plant

The >Chennai-based ABL Biotechnologies, (Q, N,C,F)* engaged in research and development of microbes, is coming up with an Rs 400 million DHA (Docasa Hexaenoic Acid) facility at Tiruchendur, reports Business Standard.              

This facility, the first of its kind in the country, will be commissioned in fiscal 2008.

The facility will help the company produce DHA a t lower cost and thereby enhance its productivity.

The company plans to sell DHA, an omega-3 fatty acid, in the form of capsules and fortified foods by 2009.

Shares of the company gained Rs 0.15, or 0.18%, to trade at Rs 81.75. The total volume of shares traded was 7,728 at the BSE. (Friday)
