Honda recalls `Civic`

Japanese automaker Honda, in process of recalling over 1.8 lakh units of its luxury car Civic,  is studying whether the model in India too had defective wheel-bearing seal, reports agency source.

Honda had issued a recall notice of 1,82,756 Civics made between Mar. 24, 2005 and Feb. 8, 2007 due to faulty wheel-bearing seal that may leak and cause malfunctioning of brake switch, thereby preventing illumination of lights on braking.

Civic model recalled in the US were left hand drives; and the company was checking if similar problems exist in the Indian right hand drive models.

In July 2007, HSCI had recalled 2,310 Accords manuf actured between 2005 and 2006 as part of a global recall.
