Market slips further

The 30-share BSE Sensex moved further down on the back of intense selling activity in index heavyweights. It touched a low of 15,510.88 in the intraday trades.

Select stocks from auto, banking, realty and IT lost ground.

The BSE Sensex is trading at 15,516.39, down 87.41 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 4,519.75, marginally up 1.75 points (1.19 p.m).

The BSE Midcap rose 0.35%, while BSE Smallcap rose 0.71%.

Out of the total 2,734 shares traded at the BSE, 1,291 advanced, 1,382 declined while 61 remained unchanged.

Amongst the sectoral indices, BSE Auto declined 0.11%, BSE Bankex dipped 0.97%, BSE Realty declined 0.82%, and BSE IT declined 1.16%.

Key gainers at the Sensex include Reliance Energy, which gained 2.70% to touch Rs 906.50, followed by Ambuja Cement which rose 0.93% at Rs 145.80 and Tata Steel rose 0.77% to Rs 709.00.

Dr Reddy`s, Bajaj Auto, Cipla, ONGC, Maruti and Wipro were among the other gainers in the Sensex pack.

Laggards at the BSE Sensex were Satyam, which dipped 1.92% at Rs 422.45, TCS declined 1.87% at Rs 1,003.50, and Ranbaxy declined 1.59% at Rs 407.30.
Reliance Comm, NTPC, Bharti Airtel, Infosys, HDFC and HDFC Bank also declined.
