NAV of Equity ELSS funds up 0.53% Equity - Diversified Funds The NAV of equity-diversified funds category rose 0.30%, during the week ended Sep. 14, 2007. Among equity-diversified funds, Discovery Stock Fund gained 4.04%. Other gainers include Franklin India Opportunities Fund, which surged 2.45%, and ABN AMRO Opportunities Fund rose 2.31%, during the week. On the other hand, Tata Life Sciences and Technology Fund declined 2.04%, followed by ICICI Prudential Fusion Fund and ICICI Prudential Fusion Fund - FII, which dipped 1.97% and 1.94% respectively. Balanced Funds NAV of balanced funds rose 0.25% during the week. Among balanced fund, ICICI Prudential Child Care Gift Plan rose 2.13%, Principal Child Benefits Fund-Career Builder rose 1.40%, Principal Child Benefits Fund-Future Guard Plan gained 1.39% and DSP Merrill Lynch Balanced Fund gained 1.34%. On the other hand, HDFC Balanced Fund declined 0.94%. The other losers are HDFC Children`s Gift Investment Plan, HDFC Prudence Fund and ICICI Prudential Moderate Plan, which declined 0.89%, 0.50% and 0.35%, respectively. Debt Funds The category of debt funds added 0.18% in NAV for the week ended Sep. 14, 2007. Among debt funds, Tata Floating Rate Fund - Short-Term - Institutional Plan gained 2.62%, SBI Magnum Gilt Long Term Plan - PF (Fixed Period - 1 Yr) gained 1.03% and UTI FMP Half Yearly - Mar 2007 gained 0.99%. On the other hand, UTI Fixed Income Interval Fund - Monthly-I Retail lost the most among debt funds, declining 1.07%, followed by Franklin India International Fund, which declined 0.55%, and JM G-Sec Fund-Regular plan declined 0.27%. Index Funds Among Index funds, Nifty Junior BeES gained 1.28% followed by Birla Index Fund, which gained 0.82%, ICICI Prudential Index-Nifty P lan gained 0.34% and UTI SUNDER Scheme gained 0.30%. ELSS Funds Among the ELSS funds, the top gainer was Libra Taxshield 96, which gained 4.85%. Other gainers were Sundaram BNP Paribas Tax Saver 98 that gained 3.61% and DSP Merrill Lynch Tax Saver Fund gained 2.08%. On the other hand, Franklin India Taxshield 99 lost the most among ELSS funds, declining 1.15%, followed by ING Vysya Tax Savings Fund, which declined 0.92%, and ABN AMRO Tax Advantage Plan declined 0.50%.
