Rupee steady, RBI reference rate at Rs 40.47/USD The Indian Rupee remained steady against the US Dollar on Sep. 17, 2007. The Reserve Bank of India`s (RBI) reference rate for US Dollar stood at Rs 40.47 on September 17, compared with Rs 40.45 on the previous working day i.e. September 14. Similarly, the domestic currency remained steady versus the Euro on the same day. The reference rate for Euro was recorded at Rs 56.17 on September 13, against Rs 56.09 on the previous working day. As revealed in the table given below, the local currency depreciated 0.43%, against the Great Britain Pound (GBP), but gained 0.17% against the Japanese Yen (taking into account 100 Yen).

Note: The reference rate is based on 12 noon rates of a few select banks in Mumbai. The SDR-Rupee rate will be based on this rate.
