BHEL eyes turnover of Rs 450 bn; scouts for M&A

In a bid to augment its operations in the domestic and the export market, state-owned top equipment maker Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) is eying mergers and acquisition (M&As) opportunities, reports Business Line.

The company, with an order book position of Rs 550 billion, aims at achieving a Rs 450 billion turnover by 2012. It also aims at increasing its turnover six times over the next five years.

Further, the company expects to increase its capacity to 10,000 MW by end of this year, and, to 15,000 MW by end of 2009.

Shares of the company closed down Rs 0.15, or 0.01%, to Rs 1,897.4. The total volume of shares traded at the BSE was 103,049. (Monday)
