Maruti Udyog is now `Maruti Suzuki India` Maruti Udyog has changed its name to `Maruti Suzuki India`. The company`s new name was approved by the registrar of companies on Sep. 17, 2007 and comes into effect from Sep. 17, 2007. > The company`s board of directors approved `Maruti Suzuki India ` as the new name, in July, 2007. This was subject to approval by the company`s shareholders. The company`s shareholders approved the new name at the annual general meeting held on Sep. 06, 2007.
In the new name, `Maruti` continues to have the predominant position. `Maruti` is one of the strongest corporate brand names in the country, in terms of awareness, recall, trust and customer care.
This is the name that a generation of Indians has grown up with, and features prominently on the company`s products, services and its sales and service network across the country.
This i nternational dimension in the company`s name will help Maruti, as the company looks to expand its role in the global markets. The company is likely to introduce a model for export to Europe in the next couple of years, while building on its recent success in Asian and African markets. Maruti is also developing capabilities to assume the role of being Suzuki`s R & D hub for Asia outside Japan.
Shares of the company gained Rs 4.25, or 0.49% to trade at Rs 878.7. The total volume of shares traded was 2,479 at the BSE.(10.07 am ,Tuesday ).
