MCX Comdex — the composite index of metals, energy and agri sub-indices, moved up by 0.59% at 2,238.09 points. MCX Metal Index gained 0.52% at 2,503.46 points, MCX Energy Index gained 0.83% at 2,448.79 points while MCX Agri Index was up by 0.12% at 1,733.57 points.

Bullion turnover was Rs 1,872.75 crore of which gold contracts accounted for Rs 1006.16 crore and silver contracts for Rs 866.59 crore. Gold contract volumes were 10,686 kgs and open interest (OI) 13,483 kgs while silver volumes were 487,255 kgs and OI 452,375 kgs.

Gold contracts, including gold mini, traded between Rs 47 and Rs 60 per 10 gms. Gold October 07 contract was up 0.57% at Rs 9,423 per 10 gms.

Silver contracts, including silver mini, tr aded between Rs 143 and Rs 222 a kg. The December contract was up 0.81% at Rs 17,822 a kg.

In the base metals segment, copper contracts turnover was Rs 408.16. crore. Volumes were 13,401,000 kgs and OI 12,996,000 kgs. Copper contracts traded up in a range of Re 0.05-0.10/kg, with the November delivery contract being up 0.02% at Rs 304.60 a kg.

Turnover of all zinc contracts was Rs 363.74 crore with volume of 31,405 tons and OI of 57,725 tons. Zinc contracts closed up between Re 0.25 and Re 0.50 a kg. Zinc September contract was up 022% at Rs 115.40 a kg.

Turnover of all nickel contracts was Rs 130.31 crore with volume of 1,089,500 kgs and OI of 1,260,000 kgs. Nickel contracts traded up between Rs 16 and Rs 23.10 a kg with the September delivery contract was up by 1.96% at Rs 1,202 a kg.

Turnover of all lead contracts was Rs 184.29 crore with volume of 14,315 tons and OI of 9,150 tons. Lead Sep tember contract fell by 0.19% at Rs 128.45 a kg.

Aluminium contracts turnover was Rs 7.83 crore with volume of 810 tons and OI of 4,684 tons. Aluminium for September delivery was down 0.62% at Rs 95.80 a kg.

In the energy segment, crude oil contracts clocked a turnover of Rs 381.24 crore. Volumes were 1,188,,300 barrels and OI 1,808,500 barrels. Crude oil October contract went up by 0.72% at Rs 3,210 a barrel.

Natural gas turnover across all contracts was Rs 27.93 crore with volume of 1,004,000 mmBTU and OI of 1,697,500 mmBTU. Natural gas contract for September delivery rose by 1.42% at Rs 271.20 a mmBTU.

Among agri commodities, refined soya oil contracts clocked a turnover of Rs 117.54 crore with volume of 24,100 tons and OI of 39,150 tons. Refined soya oil for October delivery receded by 0.38% at Rs 487.75 a 10 kg.

Guarseed contracts turnover was Rs 0.71 crore with volume of 4 10 tons and OI of 2,050 tons. Guarseed September contract was up 0.71% at Rs 1,695 a quintal.

Potato (Agra and Tarkeshwar) witnessed a turnover of Rs 9.46 crore with volume of 14,820 tons and OI of 52,110 tons. Potato Agra October contract closed up 0.17% at Rs 650 a quintal and potato Tarkeshwar October contract was down 0.42% at Rs 665.20/quintal.

Mentha oil contracts witnessed a turnover of Rs 27.71 crore with volume of 526 tons and OI of 1,858 tons. Mentha oil for September delivery gained 0.52% at Rs 517.60 a kg.

Chana contracts clocked a turnover of Rs 9.27 crore, volume of 4,170 tons and OI of 6560 tons. Chana for September delivery fell by 0.41% to Rs 2,193 a quintal.

Kapas turnover was up by Rs 12.35 crore, volume 5,904 tonnes and OI 2,416 tonnes. Kapas Apr 08 contract was up 0.14% at Rs 418.50 a 20 kg.

Kapaskhali turnover was Rs4.66 crore, volume 6,305 tons and OI of 21,720 tons. Kapaskhali for Septembe r delivery was down 0.49% at Rs 408.50 a 50 kg.

Cardamom contracts clocked a turnover of Rs 13.59 crore, volume of 272 tons and OI of 407 tons. Cardamom October contract remained unchanged at Rs 497 a kg.

Jute contracts clocked a turnover of Rs 14.42 crore, volume of 10,750 tons and OI of 15,850 tons. Jute September contract was down 2.28% at Rs 1,285.50 a quintal.

Robusta coffee turnover was Rs 0.16 crore, volume 21 tons and OI 181 tons. The October contract was down 1.06% at Rs 8,026 a quintal.
