Reliance Retail set to enter FMCG sector

>Reliance Industries (RIL) is intending to enter  the FMCG sector with its own brand name, reports NDTV.

RIL is looking out at various categories to advance itself in the retail business. It already has its own brand in the foods business.

With the company`s own label, these products will be priced lower than other branded products, which will in turn will attract consumers.

>The absence of expenditure on branding, cuts down the production cost of the retailers. Retailers entering with their private labels are set to give stiff competition to the big brands.

Pantaloon Retail & Subhiksha are among other retailers offering own brands across FMCG categories.

Shares of the company closed down  Rs 6.05 , or 0.3%, at Rs 2,028.45. The total volume of shares traded&nbsp ;at BSE was 362,334.( Monday ).
