Market regains strength
Market regains strength The BSE sensitive index regained strength in the previous trading hour as intense buying activity is being witnessed in pivotal stocks. Select stocks from auto, telecom and realty gained ground, while IT, pharma and cement stocks were the underperformers. The BSE Sensex is ruling at 16,378.59, up 55.84 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 4,760.35, up 28 points (2.56 p.m).
The BSE Midcap rose 0.47%, while BSE Smallcap rose 0.29%.
>Out of the total 2,831 shares traded at the BSE, 1,227 advanced, 1,550 declined while 54 remained unchanged.
Among sectoral indices, BSE Auto rose 1.04%, BSE Realty surged 7.59%, BSE Bankex rose 0.14%, while BSE IT declined 2.20%.
Major gainers at the Sensex includes Reliance Energy which surged 4.86% to Rs 992 .10, M&M rose 4.03% to Rs 770.80 and L&T rose 3.38% to Rs 2,759.90.
ITC, Hindalco, Tata Motors, Grasim, BHEL and Bharti Airtel were among the other gainers.
Laggards at the BSE Sensex were Wipro which declined 3.16% to Rs 434.00, Infosys dipped 2.90% to Rs 1,799.60 and TCS dropped 2.10% to Rs 1,001.00.
Satyam, Ranbaxy, HUL, Maruti, Ambuja Cement and ACC also slipped.
Realty sector rose 7.59%. Unitech soared 12.55% followed by India Bulls, which rose 9.72%, DLF rose 6.35% and Sobha Developers soared 4.02%.
Other stocks such as Omaxe, Akruti Nirman and Mahindra Gesco also recorded gains.
