Market trades firm at 16,379 The BSE Sensex after trading flat in the previous trading hour, is currently trading on a firm note, as buying activity is witnessed in heavyweights. Select stocks from auto, telecom and realty advanced, while IT, pharma and cement stocks led the declines. The BSE Sensex is trading at 16,379.22, up 56.47 points, while NSE Nifty is ruling at 4,753.35, up 21 points (11.41 a.m).
The BSE Midcap rose 0.72%, while BSE Smallcap rose 0.69%.

Out of the total 2,601 shares traded at the BSE : 1,306 advanced, 1,216 declined while 79 remained unchanged.
Among the sectoral indices : BSE Auto rose 1.45%, BSE Realty rose 7.34%, BSE Bankex rose 0.09%, while BSE IT declined 2.06%.
Key gainers at the Sensex : M&M surged 2.64% to Rs 760.50, Hindalco rose 2.26% to Rs 163.05 and Bharti Airtel rose 2.11% to Rs 905.00.
ITC, Tata Motors, NTPC, L&T, ONGC and Bajaj Auto also moved up.
Laggards at the BSE Sensex : Infosys declined 2.89% to Rs 1,799.75, TCS dipped 2.20% to Rs 1,000.00 and Wipro dropped 1.73% to Rs 440.40.
Satyam, Maruti, HDFC, ACC and Ranbaxy also slipped.
