MCX Comdex at 2,243.29, up 0.31% On Wednesday (September 19), the turnover on MCX in the first session up to 5 p.m was Rs 4,782.69 crore, up 32.10% from turnover in the corresponding session of the previous day. Total number of trades was 86,518. MCX Comdex — the composite index of metals, energy and agri sub-indices moved up 0.31% at 2,243.29 points. MCX Metal Index gained 1.03% at 2527.88 points, MCX Energy Index lost 0.17% at 2,441.39 points while MCX Agri Index fell by 0.39% at 1,726.56 points. Bullion turnover was Rs 2,071.16 crore of which gold contracts accounted for Rs 1,181.11 crore and silver contracts for Rs 890.05 crore. Gold contract volumes were 12,510 kgs and open interest (OI) 13,320 kgs while silver volumes were 497,620 kgs and OI 436,005 kgs. In the base metals segment, copper contracts turnover was Rs 796.56 crore. Volumes were 25,660,000 kgs and OI 13,247,000 kgs. Copper contracts traded up in a range of Rs 4.25-4.35/kg, with the November delivery contract being up 1.42% at Rs 310.65 per kg. In the energy segment, crude oil contracts clocked a t urnover of Rs 301.47 crore. Volumes were 932,500 barrels and OI 1,902,700 barrels. Crude oil October contract was up 0.25% at Rs 3,234 per barrel.
Gold contracts, including gold mini, traded up between Rs 49 and Rs 62 per 10 gms. Gold October` 07 contract was up 0.58 % at Rs 9,428 per 10 gms.
Silver contracts, including silver mini, traded up between Rs 160 and Rs 209 per kg. The December contract was up 0.92% at Rs 17,863 per kg.
Turnover of all zinc contracts was Rs 670.68 crore with volume of 56,415 tons and OI of 52,530 tons. Zinc contracts closed up between Rs 2.35 and 3 per kg. Zinc September contract was up 2.58% at Rs 119.15 per kg.
Turnover of all nickel contracts was Rs 357.75 crore with volume of 2,773,500 kg and OI of 1,230,000 kg. Nickel contracts traded up between Rs 39.70 and Rs 41 per kg with the September delivery contract up by 3.27% at Rs 1285.40 per kg.
