Oil registers new intraday high of USD 82.51 Oil prices touched record highs for the seventh day on Wednesday (September 19) after news of new outages in California and Texas; coupled by the government reporting surprisingly large declines in oil inventories. Oil futures jumped to a new trading high of USD 82.51 a barrel in the moments after the inventory report was released in the morning, Light, sweet crude for October delivery rose 42 cents, to settle at a record USD 81.93 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX). NYMEX gasoline rose 3.31 cents, to settle at USD 2.0934 a gallon. At the pump, gas price s rose 0.3 cents, overnight to a national average of USD 2.79 a gallon. Heating oil futures rose 0.3 cents, to settle at USD 2.2453 a gallon. NYMEX natural gas futures fell 38.8 cents, to settle at USD 6.18 per 1,000 cubic feet. In London, November Brent crude rose 88 cents, to settle at USD 78.47 a barrel on the ICE Futures exchange.
