European markets rise led by carmakers
European markets rise led by carmakers European markets opened higher on Friday (Sep. 21, 2007) led by carmakers, after Goldman Sachs raised its recommendation on the industry. Further the investors gained confidence after the rise in metal prices. France`s second-biggest carmaker, Renault, and Fiat of Italy led the advances. BHP Billiton led mining stocks higher as copper climbed to a seven-week high. UK`s FTSE 100 gained 26.80 points, or 0.42%, to trade at 6,455.80. French benchmark index, CAC 40, gained 13.08 points, or 0.23%, to trade at 5,701.84. Germany`s DAX gained 55.46 points, or 0.72%, to trade 7,790.55. Italy`s MILAN MIB30 gained 16.00 points, or 0.04%, to trade at 39,996.00.
