Gold rises to 27 year high in Asia Gold rose to a 27-year high in Asia, on Friday (September 21), on demand from investors seeking alternative investments. The demand took an upswing after the dollar sank to its lowest in 15 years. All major curriences strengthened against dollar. The Indian rupee hit a nine-year high of 39.85 per dollar. Gold for immediate delivery gained USD 2.54, to trade at USD 735.80 an ounce in Singapore, close to the 27-year high of USD 738.60 which was touched on Thursday (September 20). Silver gained 13 cents, to USD 13.48 an ounce.
