MCX Comdex up 0.14%, at 2,242.35 On Saturday, Sep. 22, 2007, turnover on MCX up to 2 p.m was Rs 512.25 crore. Total number of trades stood at 11,870. MCX Comdex - the composite index of metals, energy and agri sub-indices, rose 0.14% at 2,242.35 points. MCX Metal Index gained 0.2% at 2,543.73 points, MCX Energy Index rose 0.41% at 2,425.82 points while MCX Agri Index fell 0.77% at 1,721.12 points. Bullion turnover was at Rs 201.76 crore of which gold contracts accounted for Rs 126.57 crore and silver contracts for Rs 75.19 crore. Gold contract volumes were 1342 kgs and open interest (OI) 12,884 kgs while silver volumes were 41,235 kgs and OI 373,160 kgs.
Gold contracts, including gold mini, traded between Rs 5 an d 28 per 10 gms. Gold October 07 contract was up 0.06% at Rs 9,420 per 10 gms.
Silver contracts, including silver mini, traded between Rs 11 and 107 a kg. The December contract was up 0.07% at Rs 18,217 a kg.
In the base metals segment, copper contracts turnover was Rs 20.22 crore. Volumes were 645,000 kgs and OI 11,953,000 kgs. Copper contracts traded up in a range of Rs 0.25 and 0.30 a kg, with the November delivery contract up 0.08% at Rs 313.60 a kg.
Turnover of all zinc contracts was Rs 23.24 crore with volume of 1,990 tons and OI of 59,010 tons. Zinc contracts closed up between Re 0.25 and 0.35 a kg. Zinc September contract was up 0.22% at Rs 116 a kg.
Turnover of all nickel contracts was Rs 8.61 crore with volume of 66,250 kg and OI of 1,128,000 kg. Nickel contracts traded between Re 1.10 and Rs 7 a kg, with the September delivery contract up 0.01% at Rs 1,296.40 a kg.
Turnover of all lead contracts was Rs 43.60 crore with volume of 3,195 tons and OI of 11,020 tons. Lead September contract rose 0.84% at Rs 137.25 a kg.
Aluminium contracts turnover was Rs 2.75 crore with volume of 286 tons and OI of 5,614 tons. Aluminium for September delivery was down 0.1% at Rs 95.50 a kg.
In the energy segment, crude oil contracts clocked a turnover of Rs 26.72 crore. Volumes were 83,100 barrels and OI 1,773,000 barrels. Crude oil October contract was up 0.31% at Rs 3,221 a barrel.
Natural gas turnover acros s all contracts was Rs 1.44 crore with volume of 51,500 mmBTU and OI of 847,000 mmBTU. Natural gas contract for October delivery fell 0.32% at Rs 277.10 per mmBTU.
Among agri commodities, refined soya oil contracts clocked a turnover of Rs 87.03 crore with volume of 17,820 tons and OI of 42,800 tons. Refined soya oil for October delivery fell 0.25% at Rs 489 a 10 kg.
Potato (Agra and Tarkeshwar) witnessed a turnover of Rs 3.67 crore with volume of 5,670 tons and OI of 52,620 tons. Potato Agra October contract closed up 0.18% at Rs 655.10 a quintal and potato Tarkeshwar October contract was up 0.58% at Rs 659.30 per quintal.
Mentha oil contracts witnessed a turnover of Rs 32.30 crore with volume of 629 tons and OI of 2,026 tonnes. Mentha oil for September delivery fell 1.7 3% at Rs 499.30 a kg.
Chana contracts clocked a turnover of Rs 7.19 crore, volume of 3,180 tons and OI of 4,130 tons. Chana for October delivery gained 0.53% to Rs 2,260 per quintal.
Kapas turnover was Rs 5.25 crore, volume 2,476 tons and OI 3,184 tons. Kapas Apr` 08 contract was up 0.09% at Rs 425.10 per 20 kg.
Kapaskhali turnover was Rs 5.12 crore, volume 6,700 tons and OI of 21,820 tons. Kapaskhali for September delivery was up 0.78% at Rs 414.50 per 50 kg.
Cardamom contracts clocked a turnover of Rs 9.77 crore, volume of 192 tons and OI of 403 tons. Cardamom October contract was down 0.2% at Rs 506 a kg.
Jute contracts clocked a turnover of Rs 7.96 crore , volume of 5,960 tons and OI of 14,880 tons. Jute September contract was down 2.42% at Rs 1,271 a quintal.
Soyabean turnover was Rs 0.08 crore, volume 500 tons and OI 12,600 tons. Soybean October contract was down 0.8% at Rs 1,614 a quintal.
