RIL may step into telecom for captive purposes

Petrochemical-to-retail conglomerate Reliance (Q, N,C,F)* Industries (RIL) may foray into the lucrative telecom sector, reports Business Standard.

The Mukesh Ambani-controlled company might use the network to meet the group`s captive demand. Communication network is essential f or the group`s various businesses which include retail, SEZ, oil & gas exploration and production.

RIL may deploy a team of about 80 people to explore the opportunities in the telecom business.


Shares of the company closed up Rs 82.3, or 3.75%, at Rs 2,274.40. The total volume of shares traded at the BSE was 870,762. (Friday)
