Unitech to files application for telecom circle >The board of directors of Unitech, at its meeting held on Sep. 21, 2007, decided that eight of its wholly-owned subsidiary companies have decided to submit applications to the Department of Telecommunications, ministry of communications and information technology to provide unified access services (UAS) in 22 telecom circles across the country. The continuous rapid growth in India`s telephone services business provides enormous potential for future growth in this business. Further, this entry would help in boosting the group`s telecom and transmission tower manufacturing business. However, the proposed diversification would be subject to requis ite regulatory approvals.
Shares of the company gained Rs 12.85, or 3.81%, to settle at Rs 350.25. The total volume of shares traded was 1,315,012 at the BSE.(Monday)
