European markets decline

European markets declined on Tuesday (September 25) backed by drop in crude prices, which pulled down energy shares and broke the five days rally of mining companies.

Total, Anglo American and Rio Tinto Group declined. BP declined after reports emerged that the company intends to lay off staff amidst the worst financial performance since 1993. Deutsche Bank retreated after Merrill Lynch & Co. cut its estimate for third-quarter earnings.

UK`s index FTSE 100, declined 58.70 points, or 0.91%, to trade at 6,407.20.

French benchmark index, CAC 40, declined 40.33 points, or 0.71%, to trade at 5,652.16.

Germany`s index DAX declined 18.03 points, or 0.23%, to trade at 7,769.89.

Italy`s MILAN MIB30 declined 238 points, or 0.59%, to trade at 39,781.00. (9.00 p.m, IST)
