RIL to build, buy capacities to stay No 1

In an attempt to strengthen its position as the world’s largest polyester maker, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) is set to acquire more polyester capacities at low cost, the company’s boss Mukesh Ambani has indicated. “We will endeavour to strengthen our global leadership position in polyester by building and acquiring new capacities at very competitive costs,” Mukesh D Ambani, RIL chairman and managing director, said in a letter to shareholders dated 10 September 2007. “We will increase focus on capturing the significant growth opportunities in both apparel and non-apparel segments.”
