Sensex down 77.33 pts; Realty stocks slip 3%

The BSE benchmark index, continues to trade in the negative terrain as sustained selling pressure was witnessed in the pivotal stocks.

Select stocks from telecom, pharma and IT gained ground while cement, auto, banking and realty stocks led the declines.

BSE Sensex is trading at 16,768.10, down 77.73 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 4,907.60, down 24.6 points (2.50 p.m).

The BSE Midcap dipped 0.77% and BSE Smallcap declined 0.61%.

>Out of the total 2,764 shares traded at the BSE : 864 advanced, 1,836 declined while 64 remained unchanged.

Among the sectoral indices : BSE Auto declined 1.36%, BSE Bankex declined 1.10%, BSE Realty declined 3.10% and BSE IT rose 0.25%.

Key gainers at the Sensex include : Bharti Airtel surged 1.60% to Rs 960.00, foll owed by Hindalco which rose 1.35% to Rs 165.05 and HDFC Bank rose 1.09% to Rs 1,360.95.
Cipla, Satyam, TCS, Infosys, HUL and Ranbaxy also moved up.

Laggards at the BSE Sensex include : M&M declined 3.67% to Rs 755.00, Bajaj Auto dropped 2.84% to Rs 2,501.00 and L&T dipped 1.97% to Rs 2,839.80.
SBI, NTPC, BHEL, Reliance Comm, Reliance Energy, Tata Steel and ICICI Bank also slipped.
