Wipro BPO receives USD 130 mn contract from British co Wipro Technologies received a five-year, USD 130 million contract from British utility Thames Water, reports Economic Times. Wipro will provide integrated IT services including applications support, maintenance and infrastructure management services. Though Thames Water is an old Wipro (Q, N,C,F)* client, this is the biggest deal Wipro has received from the company.Thames Water Utilities is a water and wastewater services company with over 4,000 employees providing service in parts of London, Surrey, Wiltshire and Thames Valley in the UK. The IT service major is al so close to an acquisition. >Wipro BPO is likely to acquire marketRx, a pharma focused market analytics company. It combines analytics, market research and technology to provide solutions at global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to improve the effectiveness of their sales and marketing initiatives. Wipro BPO`s analytics practice currently accounts for less than 10% of its revenues.This acquisition will boost its revenues.The company did not comment on this issue. marketRx president Subinder Khurana also declined to comment on the same. The New Jersey-headquartered USD 50 million marketRx has over 25 clients, including Merck, Eli Lilly, Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson. It has offices in Gurgaon, Europe and the US. Gurgaon is its largest centre with 250 of its 400 staff working here.
Shares of the company closed down Rs 7.00, or 1.58%, at Rs 435. 75. The total volume of shares traded at the BSE was 322,508.( Tuesday ).
