Mukesh Ambani revives telecom dreams
Reliance Industries wants to make sure that their plans do not require a separate telecom license. Mukesh and Anil have a non-compete clause which means Mukesh Ambani cannot apply for a telecom license till 2015.
But that is not stopping Mukesh Ambani from putting a huge network in place. HFCL would be laying optical-fibre cable along RIL’s pipeline network. Interestingly HFCL has also been given mandate for providing IPTV.
In addition RIL is in talks with Powergrid, Railtel and BSNL to lease bandwidth from these companies. Mukesh Ambani has big plans for his SEZ’s as well, all data transfers within and outside SEZ will also be handled by Reliance.
