MCX COMDEX up 0.37% at 2260.51 Turnover on MCX in the first session up to 5:45 pm (delayed time owing to Sun outage) was Rs 5,511.89 crore, up 6.93% from turnover in the corresponding session of the previous day. Total number of trades was 87,402. MCX Comdex, the composite index of metals, energy and agri sub-indices, gained 0.37% at 2,260.51 points. MCX Metal Index rose 0.36% at 2,571.68 points, MCX Energy Index gained 0.77% at 2,471.02 points while MCX Agri Index fell 0.76% at 1,669.26 points. Bullion turnover was Rs 2,535.02 crore of which gold contracts accounted for Rs 1,716.83 crore and silver contracts for Rs 818.19 crore. Gold contract volumes were 18,146 kgs and open interest (OI) 13,070 kgs while silver volumes were 447,350 kgs and OI 400,365 kgs.
Gold contracts, including gold mini, gained between Rs 37 and 60 a 10 gms. Gold October 07 contract was up 0.50% at Rs 9,431 a 10 gms.
Silver contracts,including silver mini, traded between Rs 84 and Rs 111 a kg. The December contract was up 0.46% at Rs 18,274 a kg.
In the Base metals segment,
Copper contracts turnover was Rs 701.91 crore. Volumes were 21,958,000 kgs and OI 14,513,000 kgs. Copper contracts traded up in a range of Rs 1.60 to 1.65/kg, with the November delivery contract up 0.52% at Rs 319.05 a kg.
Turnover of all zinc contra cts was Rs 787.32 crore with volume of 63,165 tons and OI of 40,890 tons. Zinc contracts traded down between Rs 1.15 and Re 0.15 a kg, with the November contract steady at Rs 125.50/kg. Zinc September contract was down 0.93% at Rs 122.05 a kg.
Turnover of all nickel contracts was Rs 230.74 crore with volume of 1,808,250 kgs and OI of 1,382,500 kgs. Nickel contracts traded down between Rs 25.10 and 7.50 a kg with the September delivery contract down 1.99% at Rs 1,238.60 a kg.
Turnover of all lead contracts was Rs 369.72 crore with volume of 26,940 tons and OI of 10,295 tons. Lead September contract declined 0.69% at Rs 137.15 a kg.
Aluminium contracts turnover was Rs 40.94 crore with volume of 4,186 tons and OI of 5,656 tons. Aluminium for S eptember delivery declined 0.41% at Rs 96.75 a kg.
In the Energy segment,
Crude oil contracts clocked a turnover of Rs 515.26 crore. Volumes were 1,575,300 barrels and OI 2,161,200 barrels. Crude oil October contract rose 0.8% at Rs 3,280 a barrel.
Natural gas turnover across all contracts was Rs 22.24 crore with volume of 798,500 mmBTU and OI of 1,040,000 mmBTU. Natural gas contract for October delivery rose 1.5% at Rs 277.60 a mmBTU.
Among agri commodities,
Refined soya oil contracts clocked a turnover of Rs 166.01 crore with volume of 33,640 tons and OI of 46,050 tons.Refined soya oil for October delivery fell 0.37% at Rs 491.65 a 10 kg.
Guarseed contracts turnover was Rs 0.16 crore with volume of 100 tons and OI of 1330 tons. Guarseed October contract was steady at Rs 1,629.50 a quintal.
Potato (Agra and Tarkeshwar) witnessed a turnover of Rs 6.53 crore with volume of 10,290 tons and OI of 50,340 tons. Potato Agra October contract closed up 0.36% at Rs 638.90 a quintal and potato Tarkeshwar October contract declined 0.09% at Rs 663.5/quintal.
Mentha oil contracts witnessed a turnover of Rs 42.69 crore with volume of 843 tons and OI of 2101 tons. Mentha oil for September delivery fell 0.81% at Rs 488.90 a kg.
Ch ana contracts clocked a turnover of Rs 20.56 crore, volume of 8,960 tons and OI of 3,510 tons. Chana for October delivery fell 0.04% to Rs 2,285 a quintal.
Kapas turnover was Rs 7.47 crore, volume 3,564 tons and OI 2,544 tons. Kapas Apr 08 contract was down 0.64% at Rs 417.30 a 20 kg.
Kapaskhali turnover was Rs 5.31 crore, volume of 7,125 tons and OI of 20,325 tons. Kapaskhali for September delivery was up 0.67% at Rs 417.70 a 50 kg.
Cardamom contracts clocked a turnover of Rs 22.04 crore, volume of 392 tons and OI of 722 tons. Cardamom October contract was down 0.62% at Rs 562.5 a kg.
Jute contracts clocked a turnover of Rs 5.03 crore, volume of 3,8 20 tons and OI of 15,610 tons. Jute September contract was up 0.16% at Rs 1247.50 a quintal.
Robusta coffee turnover was Rs 0.01 crore, volume 2 tons and OI 120 tons. The October contract was up 0.22% at Rs 7,700 a quintal.
Soyabean turnover was Rs 0.08 crore, volume 500 tons and OI 10,800 tons. Soybean October contract was up 0.91% at Rs 1,656 a quintal.
