MCX COMDEX down 0.23% at 2252.69 Turnover on MCX in the first session up to 5:45 pm (owing to Sun outage) was Rs 4,146.98 crore and total number of trades were 71,729. MCX Comdex, the composite index of metals, energy and agri sub-indices, was down 0.23% at 2,252.69 points. MCX Metal Index declined 0.19% at 2,581.16 points, MCX Energy Index fell 0.48% at 2,439.59 points while MCX Agri Index gained 0.34% at 1,672.48 points. Bullion turnover was Rs 2,217.28 crore of which gold contracts accounted for Rs 1,393.86 crore and silver contracts for Rs 823.42 crore. Gold contract volumes were 14,527 kgs and open interest (OI) 12,876 kgs while silver volumes were 445,410 kgs and OI 418,400 kgs.
Gold contracts, including gold mini, declined between Rs 51 and 5 a 10 gms. Gold October 07 contract was down 0.54% at Rs 9,479 a 10 gms.
Silver contracts, including silver mini, traded between -Rs 74 and Rs 74 a kg. The December contract was down 0.4% at Rs 18,405 a kg.
In the Base metals segment,
Copa contracts turnover was Rs 514.81 crore. Volumes were 16,145,000 kgs and OI 14,545,000 kgs. Copa contracts traded up Rs 1.40/kg each, with the November delivery contract up 0.44% at Rs 319.15 a kg.
Turnover of all zinc contracts was Rs 425.07 crore with volume of 34,080 tons and OI of 36,900 tons. Zinc contracts traded between -Re 0.35 and Rs 5.15 a kg. Zinc October contract was down 0.28% at Rs 123.90 a kg.
Turnover of all nickel contracts was Rs 171.23 crore with volume of 1,391,750 kg and OI of 1,245,000 kg. Nickel contracts traded between -Rs 23.50 and Rs 33 a kg with the October delivery contract down 1.78% at Rs 1,219.10 a kg.
Turnover of all lead contracts was Rs 229.82 crore with volume of 16,980 tons and OI of 9,160 tons. Lead October contract declined 1.28% at Rs 134.65 a kg.
Aluminium contracts turnover was Rs 13.68 crore with volume of 1,370 tons and OI of 3616 tons. Aluminium for October delivery gained 0.25% at Rs 99.45 a kg.
In the Energy segment,
Crude oil contracts clocked a turnover of Rs 313.13 crore. Volumes were 970,500 barrels and OI 1,912,900 barrels. Crude oil October contract declined 0.62% at Rs 3,227 a barrel.
Natural gas turnover across all contracts was Rs 13.54 crore with volume of 483,000 mmBTU and OI of 1,106,000 mmBTU. Natural gas contract for October delivery fell 0.4% at Rs 272.80 a mmBTU.
Among Agri commodities,
Refined soya oil contracts clocked a turnover of Rs 128.94 crore with volume of 26,730 tons and OI of 47,390 tons. Refined soya oil for October delivery fell 0.89% at Rs 482.70 a 10 kg.
Guarseed contracts turnover was Rs 0.19 crore with volume of 120 tons and OI of 1,450 tons. Guarseed October contract was steady at Rs 1,611.50 a quintal.
Potato (Agra and Tarkeshwar) witnessed a turnover of Rs 12.61 crore with volume of 20,220 tons and OI of 51,870 tons. Potato Agra October contract closed down 0.84% at Rs 628.40 a quintal and potato Tarkeshwar October contract fell 1.65% at Rs 645/quintal.
Mentha oil contracts witnessed a turnover of Rs 32.87 crore with volume of 639 tons and OI of 2,028 tons. Mentha oil for October delivery rose 2.15% at Rs 509.40 a kg.
Chana contracts clocked a turnover of Rs 3.93 crore, volume of 1,700 tons and OI of 3,540 tons. Chana for October delivery fell 0.52% at Rs 2,300 a quintal.
Kapas turnover was Rs 7.41 crore, volume 3608 tons and OI 2,916 tons. Kapas Apr 08 contract was down 1.32% at Rs 410.40 a 20 kg.
Kapaskhali turnover was Rs 4.26 crore, volume 6,080 tons and OI of 19,925 tons. Kapaskhali for October delivery was down 0.96% at Rs 361 a 50 kg.
Cardamom contracts clocked a turnover of Rs 21.32 crore, volume of 376 tons and OI of 850 tons.Cardamom October contract was up 2.22% at Rs 576 a kg.
Jute contracts clocked a turnover of Rs 9.19 crore, volume of 6,940 tons and OI of 14,160 tons. Jute October contract was down 0.61% at Rs 1,299.50 a quintal.
Soyabean turnover was Rs 0.3 crore, volume 1,900 tons and OI 11,100 tons. Soybean October contract was down 1.47% at Rs 1,605 a quintal.
