European stocks trade mixed
European stocks traded mixed on Wednesday. The stocks in UK and France climbed on speculation that the banks may recover from losses linked to the declining US housing market. HSBC Holdings, Deutsche Bank and Barclays led the advances. On the other hand, Lagardere, EADS, Assicurazioni Generali, and Safran paced the falls. UK`s FTSE 100 gained 21.10 points, or 0.32%, to trade at 6,521.50. French benchmark index, CAC 40, fell 3.88 points, or 0.07%, to trade at 5,803.15. Germany`s DAX dropped marginally 1.74 points, or 0.02%, to trade at 7,945.05. Italy`s MILAN MIB30 went down 74 points, or 0.18%, to trade at 40,367.
