Sensex 121 pts away from 18k The BSE benchmark index having touched an all time high of 17,878.02 in the previous trading hour, continues to march ahead on account of sustained buying interest in the heavyweights. All sectors are trading in positive. BSE Sensex is trading at 17,859.95, up 531.33 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 5,233.90, up 164.95 points (11.20 a.m).

The BSE Midcap rose 1.88% and BSE Smallcap rose 1.04%.
>Out of the total 2,624 stocks traded at the BSE, 1,691 advanced, 876 declined while 57 remained unchanged.
Amongst the sectoral indices, BSE Auto rose 1.81%, BSE Bankex rose 1.93%, BSE IT rose 2.67% and BSE Realty rose 6.21%, BSE Metal rose 2.84%.
Key gainers amongst the Sensex include NTPC, which soared 7.14% to touch Rs 220. 70, followed by Reliance Comm which rose 5.95% at Rs 648.30 and Reliance Energy rose 5.53% at Rs 1,424.00.
Reliance Industries, ONGC, M&M, Tata Motors, Infosys and Satyam also moved up.
Maruti, which declined 0.18% to Rs 990.00 is the only loser at the BSE.
