Suzlon Energy, an integrated wind power company, secured a major order from DLF for setting up of a wind farm of 150 MW wind turbine capacity in the State of Gujarat. The order comprising of 100 units of Suzlon`s S82-1.5 MW turbines will be installed by March 2008.

>Recently, the company reported a steep drop of 53.82% in net profit for the quarter ended June 2007. During the quarter, the company saw fall in profit to Rs 894 million from Rs 1,936 million in the comparable quarter, last year. The net sales for the quarter declined 10.13%, to Rs 8,391.90 million compared with the corresponding quarter, a year ago.

Suzlon Energy operations include manufacturing, designing, developing and selling of wind turbine generators (WTGs) and gear box. Its other operation s include sale/sub-lease of land, infrastructure development income and power generation income. The company`s main manufacturing plants are located at Daman, Pondicherry, Bhuj, Chhadvel (Dhule) and Vadodara.

Shares of the company gained Rs 59.85, or 4.06%, to trade at Rs 1,534.10. The total volume of shares traded was 174,336 at the BSE. (1.08 p.m., Wednesday)
