BSNL-MTNL merger : BSNL-MTNL merger `call waiting`
The long awaited merger between two state-run telecom companies, BSNL and MTNL, which seemed to have come ot a standstill, is now showing some movement wherein, both the companies are now planning to synergize their operations across the country.
BSNL chairman and managing director Kuldeep Goyal, said it would enable them to provide customer support through a single platform. The customer care centers of one company would be able to help customers of another company and vice versa.
He said discussions with MTNL on this issue have already started to take shape and the process is expected to be complete in a couple of months.
Shares of MTNL declined Rs 0.55, or 0.31%, to end at Rs 179.05. The total volume of shares traded was 1,511,727 at the BSE.(Thursday)
