Sun TV Network, India’s leading entertainment conglomerate has announced that it would produce Superstar Rajnikanth’s next movie titled ” ENDHIRAN (The ROBOT), the country’s biggest project in terms of grandeur, splendor and star cast. Sun Pictures, the movie division of Sun TV Network will handle the production. Kalanithi Maran, producer and managing director for Sun Network is banking on two of India’s most charismatic stars, Rajnikanth and Aishwarya Rai who will take lead roles in the film. The multi-crore project is directed by Shankar, the producer of many hit films including Shivaji, while A R Rahman scores the music. The potential for merchandising the film to overseas audience and sale of satellite rights are expected to make up for the huge costs, which the film is expected to incur.The film will be ready in another 18 months and will be simultaneously released in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and other languages. The project has taken considerable time to get started. Initially, Shah Rukh Khan agreed to produce it under his Red Chllies Entertainment banner, but later pulled out of the project, as it was too ambitious. Subsequently, Ayangaran International, which is a part of Eros International, stepped in, but nothing moved forward.Until now, two songs have been picturised on Aishwarya and Rajnikanth. Both were shot abroad. The next schedule will start on Thursday in Chennai.Endhiran,’ the sci-fi film promises the kind of awe-inspiring stunt sequences and computer graphics that the younger generation never seem to get enough of. According to reports, Mary E Vogt, the costume designer of Batman’ and stunt master Yuen Ping of Matrix’ fame would be working for the movie. ”This project promises to be the first of its kind in terms of computer graphics, special effects and stunt sequences. Top notch technicians from Hollywood are being roped in for this movie making this project truly global,” Sun TV said in a statement.
