PSU bks may slash deposit, lending rates by Jan

After PSU banks announced the home loan package, now the government is asking the banks to reduce the rates of existing borrowers. The one hurdle to this, however, is that banks are borrowing money at high deposit rates. PSU banks have reached a consensus to slash deposit and lending rates as early as the first week of January.
