Ashok leyland sales up in January
Ashok Leyland has reported a marginal rise in total sales at 2444 in January 2009 over 2307 in December 2008. But, it is a sharp fall compared to 9112 vehicles sold in January 2008. Domestic sales picked up by 620 to 2026 vehicles last month compared to December 08.
The company slightly increased its total production to 1170 in January 2009 over 960 in the previous month. It was 6833 an year ago. Exports dropped to 418 vehicles last month from 901 in December 2008 and 635 in January 08.
During April- January 2008-09, total sales dropped to 46087 against 65110 in the same period in the previous year. Of this, export sales came to 5565 ( 5453). Total production during the period dropped to 48,463 vehicles ( 66,644 vehicles).
