Microsoft founder Bill Gates told CNN on Wednesday that he hopes President-elect Barack Obama and Congress immediately craft a wide-ranging stimulus package, to help jump-start the nation’s sputtering economy, and double the United States’ commitment to foreign aid.

This is the definition of awesome. Mamoru-Kun (”Little Protector”) is a robot that is able to tell his owner where an object he or she lost or misplaced within a certain area is located. He can do it verbally or by pointing at the object. Alternatively, Mamoru-Kun is even kind enough to tell his bigger robot buddy get the object for his owner.

AT&T is chopping 12,000 jobs, or 4% of its work force, citing economic pressures and a changing business mix. It will also reduce capital spending.

Thanks to the recession, Google has begun killing projects that haven’t made it financially, with CEO Eric Schmidt warning the company will eliminate “dark matter” projects that “haven’t really caught on” and “aren’t really that exciting.” Two are already on the chopping block, with more to follow.
